He's Daniel Fowler, a 19 year-old lad from Perth, Western Australia who likes to make strange, trippy, scary and more often than not, retarded sounds with his mouth. He has been developing his skill in beatboxing (putting these sounds together and shit) since early in the 21st century and has produced his own beatbox-centric genre he likes to call 'Oralpop'. All of his tracks are layered, meaning that each sound or section of sounds is recorded individually and then made into a song by adding one recording at a time. He rarely uses any audio effects on the sound files other than pitch and tempo and most sounds are imported directly from the mic. With a vastly growing collection of tracks already under his belt, and many more up his sleeve, it has become apparent that Fowler's clothes will be able to hold a shit-load of songs.
All songs that ALIEN REd WOLf (henceforth ARW) has made, are currently available for FREE as mp3 downloads on his official website. He hopes to gain a fan base in his hometown because there has been some minor interest around the world to sign ARW, and get him heading in the right direction for some record deal opportunities.
Fowler has gone through life listening to everything around him with a drumbeat and soon realised that he could make wacky music with his new favorite instruments, his respiratory system and vocal chords. With influences coming from the likes of Richard D. James, Boards Of Canada, Pendulum, Locust Toybox, Concord Dawn, Noisia, Telefon Tel Aviv and The Dirty Projectors, Fowler gets his inspiration from 'trippy' electronica, drum and bass, and IDM more so than beatboxers themselves.
But, don't think for one second that he doesn't get wet-dreams over Killa Kela, Rahzel, Joel Turner or Arczi. Anyway, see what you think, have a listen to some of the debut tracks off ARW's upcoming EP, and tell all your goddamn friends to do the same.
